Welcome from the Principal

Mater Dei Catholic College is a co-educational secondary school in the Diocese of Wagga Wagga that provides a caring, nurturing learning environment for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

The College is a Learning Community steeped in Catholic tradition and built firmly on Gospel values. We believe strongly that Jesus serves as a model for us all; especially adolescents of today. This is a community that encourages all students to value and respect themselves and others in their journey of faith, learning and life.

At Mater Dei we strive to make learning enjoyable and engaging.  The College is well resourced and we place an emphasis on the critical use of digital technology. This focus, together with a varied curriculum and a wide range of learning tools ensures that learning is creative, meaningful and relevant. From Year 7 onwards, students are at the centre of all learning, building their capacity to work independently and as team members who can work cooperatively with others.

Quality teaching delivered by energetic and committed teachers enables students to achieve outstanding results, evident in our strong performance in the Higher School Certificate and NAPLAN, where learning growth registered by students exceeds state averages each year. A Mater Dei education is one that prepares young people for an exciting and challenging future.

At Mater Dei our high expectations challenge students to fulfil their potential. We know that young people learn best in a safe and supportive learning environment and a strong pastoral care structure based around the House system provides a caring “home” for each of our students. Here they are individually known and valued as a member of the College family. We place a high priority on the development of the whole child, offering students opportunities to pursue their talents through the co-curricular program. This includes, for example, a varied and dynamic sporting program and a comprehensive music tuition program where students can be involved with Stage and Concert Bands, Guitar group and String Orchestra.

We have high levels of parent and community involvement and invite parents to be actively involved in their children’s education. The quality education we offer comes from a real partnership between our parents, students and teachers. We value community partnerships and encourage students to seek opportunities to become involved in parish and community groups.

I am pleased to welcome you to our website and I encourage you to browse the various pages and to access the links to social media, where you will find more information about the exciting educational opportunities that are available to students at Mater Dei Catholic College.
