Our History

Mater Dei is a Catholic systemic College catering for the holistic educational needs of students from the city of Wagga Wagga, and surrounding rural communities, in the context of the Mission of the Catholic Church. It is committed to providing quality teaching and learning program which meet BOSTES guidelines.

Mater Dei Catholic College began operations in 2004. In its founding year, the College catered for students in Years 7,8, 9 and 10, growing in 2005 to include Year 11 and finally Year 12 in 2006. It gives respect to the long history that Mount Erin High School, Saint Michael’s Regional High School and Trinity Senior High School have provided to the community over a period of more than 130 years, served by both the Religious Orders laity. A unique atmosphere and direction for this new College has emerged with an emphasis on educating the whole child through many dynamic learning opportunities.
Today, the College has 5 streams in each year group and total enrolment in the vicinty of 800 students. The dual charisms of Nano Nagle, the Presentation Sisters, Bernard Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers continue to shape the college mission and traditions of the Catholic School.
