Scholarship provision also reflects confidence that Mater Dei Catholic College, as a comprehensive College in regional NSW, provides the high standard of teaching and learning required to allow highly academic students to realise their full potential.
Scholarships at Mater Dei Catholic College for 2018
Mater Dei Catholic College offers merit-based scholarships as well as a Music Scholarship. Families of prospective students are invited to apply for the following scholarships, which will be offered in 2017 for students commencing or continuing at Mater Dei in 2018.
Academic Scholarships for 2018
Academic Scholarship x 2 Year 7 students in 2018 at 50% reduction in fees. This will apply for 4 years.
Academic Scholarship x 2 Year 11 students in 2018 at 50% reduction in fees. This will apply for 2 years.
Year 7 Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships are offered, on the basis of academic merit, to students commencing or hoping to commence Year 7 at Mater Dei Catholic College in 2018. These scholarships have tenure of four years. The two scholarships are for the remission of 50% of the tuition fees for each year of the scholarship. It is expected that scholarship holders will demonstrate a high level of commitment to their studies and be positively involved within the College.
Year 11 Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships are offered, on the basis of academic merit, to students commencing or hoping to commence Year 11 at Mater Dei Catholic College in 2018. These scholarships have tenure of two years. The two scholarships are for the remission of 50% of the tuition fees for each year of the scholarship. It is expected that scholarship holders will demonstrate a high level of commitment to their studies and be positively involved within the College. These scholarships are open to continuing or commencing students.
ACADEMIC APPLICATIONS CLOSE WEDNESDAY 16 AUGUST 2017.
EXAMINATIONS WILL BE HELD AT THE COLLEGE FRIDAY 8 SEPTEMBER 2017.
The scholarship tests are external, conducted by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). On the ACER website, you will find information about the tests and also about preparing for the tests.
The Kerrie Matthews Scholarship
The Kerrie Matthews Scholarship is offered annually to one Mater Dei student which covers 50% of tuition fees for their final two years of schooling. It is expected that the scholarship holder will demonstrate a high level of commitment to their studies and be positively involved within the College.
CLOSING DATE FOR THE KERRIE MATTHEWS SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE WEDNESDAY 16 AUGUST 2017.
Music Scholarship x 2 students from Year 7, 2018 at 50% reduction in fees. This will apply for 4 years.
The scholarship will consist of 50% of tuition fees for the school year, the College’s membership fee and Instrument hire (if required). The scholarship will be reviewed each year according to a recipient’s aptitude for improvement as well as their application to their music group(s).
Students will be shortlisted subject to:-
(a) their high achievement and application as indicated by school reports,
(b) evidence of good character, and
(c) potential for making a positive contribution toward the Music Program at the College with evidence of being a proficient performer on an orchestral instrument.
PLEASE NOTE: The recipient of a Music Scholarship will be expected to study elective music and become a member of music groups as deemed appropriate.
Complete and forward the Mater Dei Catholic College Music Scholarship, along with a covering letter, to the Principal by WEDNESDAY 16 AUGUST 2017. You will also need to include:
- The $20.00 NON-REFUNDABLE scholarship application fee (one scholarship fee applies per child);
- A reference from music teacher;
- Proof of musicianship skills eg. AMEB Examination Results;
- Copies of the last two school reports.
The Principal and Coordinator of Performance Music will shortlist applicants with a view to holding interviews and auditions in term 3 and notification of both successful and unsuccessful applicants will then be made.
